Crazy Angle
Taken with camera held at a crazy angle
photo taken by my son on our wedding day.
Omen of how our life was to become out of kilter.

You, with meticulous groomed facial hair, eyes sparkling with happiness,
a shy smile stand in the the open doorway.
One arm around my waist the other lifting me up close to you,
where I smell that spicy cologne you loved to wear.

Me, with hair in a sophisticated up-do allowing my ears decorated
in rose shaped earrings with a circle of rhinestones to show.
Skin near my eyes crinkling with happiness and laughter.
My arms around your shoulder holding on tight never wanting to let go.

You carried me that day through the open door
into a room filled with tiny twinkling lights visible in the photo.
Filled with our hopes and dreams.
Beginning a life that neither of us imagined on that happy day.

I laughed when later you hung the photo on a crazy angle on the wall,
friends visiting would try to straighten the picture.
Friends no longer visit, you took the picture off the wall hiding it.
The other day I found it realizing Alzheimer's hung our life a crazy angle.
